Easter Walking Holiday 2012

These Spring walks were started and led by Frank Jarvis for many years from the 1970s onwards. Many people have been on the walks and some have been on most of them. Can you find your name in the records?

In 2010 we were at Scarborough and Beverley. We did not gather in 2011 because holidays did not coincide due to the timing of Easter.

For 2012 we are planning to walk on and near the West Highland Way in Scotland, basing ourselves for 3 nights at Crianlarich and 3 nights at Kinlochleven. As usual we will do our best to cater for different walking abilities and welcome all ages.

Provisional itinerary:

Sunday to Wednesday, the nights of 8 April to 10 April 2012 Crainlarich

Suggested accommodation SYHA hostel

Wednesday to Saturday, the nights of 11 April to 14 April 2012 Kinlochleven

Suggested accommodation Blackwater hostel

Don't worry if you can't join for the whole time. We are very flexible. Just meet us for individual days if you wish. We usually gather at 0945 for Bible reading and prayer before we start our walking. Contact Peter for meeting up on the day: 0791 752 5679

I left the house this morning,
My spirits soaring high,
My steps were light, my boots shone bright,
A gleam was in my eye.
The hills and dales were calling,
I yearned to walk each track,
Cast off all care, inhale fresh air,
Feel sunshine on my back.
By tea-time I was tattered,
By thorn and bramble mauled,
My feet were damp, my legs had cramp,
As back to home I crawled.
Good time? my neighbour asked me,
I paused to think it through.
I stood up straight and answered, Great!
And whats more it was true!
